CoAsia CM Begins Development of Depth Camera Solution for Physical AI

Date 2026.05.27

Advanced optical solution company CoAsia CM (196450) announced that it has begun development of a robotics-oriented Depth Camera Solution optimized for Physical AI environments in collaboration with its affiliate, CoAsia CM Korea.

As Physical AI industries such as robotics, autonomous driving, and smart factories continue to expand rapidly, 3D sensing technology for spatial recognition and distance measurement is emerging as a core component. In particular, Depth Cameras serve as the “eyes” of AI devices capable of recognizing 3D space in real time, enabling precise recognition across various environments. As a result, global demand for the technology is increasing rapidly.

This joint development project is intended to address such industry changes. CoAsia CM and CoAsia CM Korea are developing universal camera modules and optical lenses that can flexibly integrate with various platforms without being tied to any specific ecosystem. At the same time, the companies are pursuing the development of a Depth Camera solution for robotic platforms encompassing both hardware (HW) and software (SW). Based on this core solution, the companies plan to expand applications beyond robotics into next-generation fields including autonomous driving, smart factories, and industrial vision systems.

In particular, the project is meaningful in that it represents a full-scale expansion into the robotics market based on the optical design and module integration technologies accumulated through the company’s existing mobile camera business. Leveraging existing production and development infrastructure is expected to contribute to diversification of the company’s revenue structure while fostering the business as a key mid- to long-term growth driver.

Through this project, CoAsia CM aims to evolve beyond a simple hardware supplier into an integrated sensing and imaging solution provider. The company plans to strengthen its customer-tailored solution capabilities while expanding cooperation with global customers.

A company official stated, “This development marks the first execution step toward entering the Physical AI market based on the technological expertise accumulated through our mobile business,” adding, “By securing a universal Depth Camera solution, we plan to expand applications across various industries and broaden our global business portfolio over the mid to long term.”
